Open data

Every price on this site comes from a dataset we build and refresh ourselves, currently 640 tests from 16 UK providers. We publish the whole thing for free, so researchers, journalists, developers, and other comparison sites can use it. You do not need to ask permission, register, or use an API key.

What's in the dataset

Two tables, in two formats each. Same rows, same fields:

File Format What it holds
/api/tests.json JSON Every test: name, provider, price, promo price, category, description, product URL, and the date the price was last verified
/api/providers.json JSON Every provider: name, description, Trustpilot rating and review count, price range, results time, and delivery methods
/api/tests.csv CSV The tests table, ready for a spreadsheet
/api/providers.csv CSV The providers table, ready for a spreadsheet

Field notes

  • price is the current one-off price in pounds. When a discount is running, promoPrice holds the discounted price and lastPrice the normal one.
  • lastVerified is the date we last confirmed the price on the provider's own page. Prices move often, so check it before you rely on a figure.
  • deliveryMethods lists how you can take the test (home kit, clinic appointment, nurse visit), separated by semicolons in the CSV.
  • Empty cells in the CSV mean the value is null.

How fresh is it

A price-check job runs each morning and compares every price against the provider's live page. When a price changes, we record the movement. You can read the history on the changelog or subscribe to it as a feed at /price-changes.xml.

The dataset is released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Use it for anything you like, including commercial work. All we ask is attribution: name Blood Tests - Head to Head and link to this page. A credit line like this one does the job:

info Note

Providers change prices without notice and sometimes retire or rename tests. Always confirm the final price on the provider's own page before buying. Every test row links straight to that page to make it easy.
