Cervical Cancer

What Does This Test Check?

These tests check for high risk strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) linked to cervical cancer. They detect the virus in a cervical sample, since persistent high risk HPV is the main driver of cervical cell changes.

Two providers offer this check. Bluecrest Wellness charges £85, while Check4Cancer charges £106. Both detect high risk HPV, so the main difference is price rather than what is screened for.

A positive result may indicate you carry a high risk HPV strain, but it does not mean you have cervical cancer, as most HPV clears itself. Follow up depends on your age and screening history, so take the result to your GP for the right next steps.
