What Does This Test Check?

These tests check how well your kidneys are filtering waste from your blood, using markers such as creatinine and eGFR. The levels indicate the general function of your kidneys.

Three providers offer this check. Medichecks is cheapest at £39, with Forth and Goodbody Clinic both at £49. The markers tested are broadly similar, so the main difference is provider and price.

A result outside the range may indicate reduced kidney function, but one reading does not diagnose kidney disease and can be affected by hydration and muscle mass. A single abnormal value needs repeating and a conversation with your GP.
