Vitamin B1
What Does This Test Check?
This test measures vitamin B1 (thiamine), the vitamin the body uses to turn carbohydrates into energy and to keep nerves, muscles and the heart working. Severe deficiency causes beriberi, and low levels are linked to heavy alcohol use.
Lola Health offers the Vitamin B1 test at £110, with results in one to four working days from a home sample. It is the sole option on this page, so there is no price comparison to make.
A low result may indicate a deficiency worth correcting, but blood levels reflect recent intake and do not confirm deficiency symptoms on their own. Most people on a varied diet get enough B1. If your result is low or you drink heavily, discuss diet and any supplement with your GP.
