What Does This Test Check?

These tests measure HbA1c, your average blood sugar over the past two to three months, used to screen for and monitor diabetes and prediabetes.

Four providers are listed, with Medichecks and Forth both at £46, Goodbody Clinic at £49 and Bluecrest Wellness at £65. The cheapest are Medichecks and Forth at £46, while the Bluecrest option is the most expensive, so the only real spread is in what each profile adds around the core HbA1c reading.

A raised HbA1c may indicate elevated average blood sugar, but it is not a one-off glucose reading and a result should be repeated and discussed with a GP before any medication is considered.
