Allergy
What Does This Test Check?
These blood tests screen for allergic sensitivity by measuring IgE antibodies, the immune proteins the body produces against allergens. Panels range from a core set of common allergens to a complete screen covering dozens.
Both tests come from Goodbody Clinic: the Essential Allergy Test at £179 and the Complete Allergy Blood Test at £329, with results in three to seven working days. The cheaper option covers core allergens while the complete panel casts a wider net, so the choice is how broad a screen you want.
Raised IgE to an allergen may indicate sensitivity, but it does not prove the allergen causes your symptoms, and some allergies show normal IgE. Interpret results against your actual symptoms with your GP, who can arrange confirmatory testing if needed.
