What Does This Test Check?

Haemoglobin electrophoresis separates the different haemoglobin types in your blood, which is how sickle cell trait and disease are told apart.

An unusual haemoglobin pattern may indicate a carrier state or the condition itself, and the distinction matters for family planning.
